Anti-Redness And Veins Programme

What is Anti-Redness and Veins Programme

Rosacea is one of the commonest skin conditions that go unnoticed in patients. The redness can be worsened by chronic sun exposure, and heat. Also, redness of the face can be contributed by inflammatory acne lesions, red marks that are left behind as a result of recovering acne vulgaris. Other common cosmetic vascular conditions of the face include spider veins, growths like hemangiomas, and congenital conditions like port wine stains.

About the treatment

This is a laser programme specifically designed to target redness and vascular lesions. Vascular lesions, by themselves, are another field of study in aesthetic medicine. One of the reasons why few doctors tend to do it is due to its lower efficacy, higher rate of complication and higher recurrence rate when compared to other laser treatments. Even then, inadequate understanding of the skin structures will result in incomplete treatment. Its presentation can be varied. At the Ogee clinic, we have a setup of a variety of lasers that can deal with a wide spectrum of vascular conditions.

After a consultation with Dr Heng, your vascular condition will be diagnosed and vascular lesions will be thoroughly assessed. We will come up with a treatment plan based on the above, which may require a few sessions done at intervals of a few weeks.

During the treatment, the intended areas to be treated may be numbed with an anesthetic cream to optimize the comfort level of the procedure. This preparation step may take up to 30-40 minutes. Dr Heng will then select the laser protocol to be done in a sequence to treat the vascular lesions. Depending on the extent of area treated, the whole procedure may take about 20 minutes.

The laser energy emitted by the machine do not cause bodily harm, and its penetration depth has been selected to precisely target vascular structures within the skin. As part of our laser safety routine, eye protection will be provided for you during the treatment, and non-staff members are not allowed to come into the laser room without consent.

Kindly inform us if you are suffering from any chronic illnesses, or are taking any long-term medications. Dr Heng will advise you accordingly on the steps to take so that treatment can still be done. On the day of treatment, refrain from applying excessive make-up to the clinic.

You will be advised to avoid intense sun exposure after the treatment. Frequent sunscreen application is high recommended to protect the treated areas. You may experience some mild itching after the treatment, and will be given some topical medications to prevent you from scratching or traumatizing the treated area.

You may experience mild pinching sensation as the laser beams come into contact with the skin. Depending on the type of vascular conditions treated, you may need to go through a preparation phase where we apply a layer of anesthetic cream to numb the area. We go the extra mile in providing comfortable laser procedures for our patients, and during the procedure, we may utilize additional counter-pain measures to ensure the treatment is tolerable.

Downtime is minimal for most of the vascular conditions treated. Redness can be seen for about half an hour to an hour, after which you can continue with you usual activities. For the minority of patients with more complex vascular lesions, the downtime may be longer. Dr Heng will advise accordingly during the consultation, so you will have enough time to prepare for the downtime.

The number of treatment sessions depends on the extent and severity of the vascular condition. We will be able to give you a more precise and tailored treatment plan after your consultation.

You will be advised to maintain the result with lifestyle modifications and Dr Heng may also advise a skincare regime to further extend the benefits of the vascular laser program.

The treatment cost depends on the type of laser use and depends on the extent of treatment area, and the complexity of the vascular condition. Feel free to come speak with Dr Heng to understand more about your concerns and how our program may be able to help you before committing to a laser program with us.
